Lake Powhatan near Asheville, NC is a small recreational trout-stocked lake in a heavily wooded area near Bent Creek and the North Carolina Arboretum. It’s a great place to picnic, swim, fish from a pier and hike. (No boats) A day visit is $2 per person. If you like camping, you can reserve in advance a camp site ($22). Directions: I-26, take exit 33, south approximately two miles on NC Highway 191 to the Lake Powhatan Recreation Area sign. Turn right and follow signs to campground.
